The Wyoming Internet Filing System is a paperless solution for registering for your business licenses and filing your business taxes you are required to report to the Wyoming Department of Revenue Excise Tax Division. You can feel confident that your data will remain secure as this website is protected by ….encryption and various other layers of physical and virtual security. You will create a username and password in order to work within the system. You will be assigned a unique PIN number by the department which will be e-mailed to the e-mail address you provide. You will be allowed to create sub-accounts to assign people within your staff or your accounting firm the right to enter tax information for your organization.
The following tax types can be filed and paid on WYIFS:
- Sales and Use Tax registration and filing for both vendors and consumers
- Contractor registration and reporting
- Cigarette and Other Tobacco Tax registration, filing, renewal and stamp ordering
- Online payment of your various taxes through ACH debit or credit card
Paying the Tax
The department offers E-check which is actually an Automated Clearing House (ACH) debit method of electronically transferring funds from your bank to the department. Under this method, you authorize the Department of Revenue to electronically transfer your tax payment from your depository into the State’s account. You will be asked to provide the routing information from your financial institution necessary to perform the transaction. Once provided, the information will be retained by the system. You will have the ability to update the routing information at any time or remove it should you wish to pay by another means.
The department also offers payment by credit card through a third-party credit card processing company, (Convenient Payments ). The department also accepts wire transfers and ACH credits although not through the WYIFS system.
Filing Sales and Use Taxes Electronically
The filing of sales and use taxes on the WEB is simplified greatly over filing paper returns. Lookup tables quickly and efficiently identify taxing jurisdictions, automatically calculate the taxes due and eliminate rejection of your tax return for clerical errors, saving taxpayers both time and money.
The following sales and use tax returns can be filed on WYIFS:
- 41-1 Sales and Use Tax Return for Licensed Vendors (Monthly and Quarterly)
- 42-1 Sales and Use Tax Return for Annual Filers
- 43-1 Sales and Use Tax Return for Occasional Vendors
- 44 Business Consumer Use Tax
- 45-1 Contractor Use Tax Return
The ACH Debit method or E-Check is included as a payment option as well as credit card payment. This allows you to electronically file and pay in one system transaction. You can even direct the system to pay on a certain day which maximizes the amount of time the money remains in your account. You can also file your return electronically and pay by check or by electronic transaction from your bank. The choice is yours.
Contractor Registrations on the WEB
Non-resident Contractors working in Wyoming and resident contractors who hire non-resident subcontractors have several requirements which they must meet before beginning work in the State. Please review our --------contractor publication (MISSING DOCUMENT LINK)-------- for a complete listing of the requirements. The entire process for registration of projects and reporting of taxes is streamlined significantly by filing on the WEB.
